The center is a governmental organization falls under the auspices of National Telecom Corporation (NTC) and registered in business register of Sudan under license from the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST).
NCTR is involved mainly in research and development especially in encryption and IT security, embedded systems and communication and navigation systems. It may also undertake technology transfer and production of some special systems
